Not out of the woods

At some point in time, we will return to our regularly scheduled program.  In the meantime, here's an update.

-Cramping has not subsided. In fact, there's now a trend. Mornings are fine, but starting around 12 pm, the cramps come, usually in waves. They taper off by 7 or 8 pm.
-I'm now passing clots. First one was last night at 7 pm. Second one was today at 4 pm. Been instructed that if bleeding becomes heavy that I am to contact Dr. Optimism.
-Despite this, my hCG levels continue to rise.  Did another beta today at 1 pm. Beta #4 = 8225. Not quite the jump I've previously been getting, but it's well within range.
-Because of all of this, I have another beta scheduled for Sunday morning and an ultrasound Monday morning. It's still too early to really see anything, so they're hoping that by 5 weeks 3 days they'll at least be able to get an idea of what's happening.

So, this weekend I am officially on modified bedrest. Which means poor Grey is now in charge of taking care of me while doing the cleaning and the laundry. Seriously thinking about hiring a maid.

So, outside of having two major scares, both of which have had me in the fetal position, and experiencing menstrual-like cramps, I'm still officially pregnant. I'm ready for the drama to stop, please.

  1. Shoot I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm still hoping with all my might this is nothing and just a weird bump in an otherwise normal pregnancy. Please rest well. I am in full support of getting a maid. Whatever it takes so that you and Grey are well enough to focus on your health and baby's health. Thinking so much of you and praying for good news on Monday. Lots of love dear. *hugs*

  4. Oh hun! I wish there was a magic ball we could look into. I think right now the not knowing would be the worst! Hoping you can rest all weekend and drown yourself in some pretty amusing movies or something. May Monday bring you ultimate peace.

  5. I am so sorry that you are experiencing this. I hope that resting this weekend will help you. I highly recommend hiring a cleaning person if you can. I finally broke down last year and hired someone to come every two weeks. It has helped my stress levels so much. Wishing you the best.

  7. Oh hun... I'm sorry that you're going through all this. All IFers should have a free pass for a problem free pregnancy. I had bleeding throughout the first trimester for one of my pregnancies... and was told so many different times by so many different people that it can be completely normal.... but it doesn't make it any easier to deal with. Thinking of you xoxo

  8. I'm going to try to respond the way you would respond if this were me, with strength, positivity and optimism, because your posts often times helped me more than any others.

First off, let's focus on the positive. Those beta numbers are fantastically strong and continuing to get stronger. That's not insignificant. Something is GROWING in there.

Second, there could be a number of perfectly reasonable explanations. I know you've read or heard stories of people who had this who ended up having perfect babes (there's thousands of them out there if you look!). Assume you're one of them. I think you are. Those betas tell me you are.

You may have thought about a vanishing twin. This is entirely possible but also a complicated set of emotions. So here I'll say, don't cross that bridge until you get to it. Again, something is growing. I know it's not you but I've seen firsthand this exact scenario working out very recently with a family member who did IVF. She just gave birth to a healthy son last month. Keep the faith.

Finally, I'll say this. If IF has taught us anything, it's that we don't have control. Whatever is going to shake out here is going to reveal itself as it will. But there is ONE thing you can do. And that is to give those embryos all the love, positivity, and benefit of the doubt you can. If they're ANYTHING like you, they're fighters. Don't worry about getting your hopes up. If it doesn't work out, it's going to suck either way. Your hopes are up anyways, no matter what you tell yourself consciously. So instead spend whatever time you have with this pregnancy sending love and light and warmth to them.

I'm sending you the same. Enjoy being pampered and waited on while you lay low this weekend! But don't worry about Grey - you're doing much heavier lifting!

All the love in the world is coming to you. xx

  10. I hope that everything turns out to be normal and nothing to be afraid of. I wish they could get you in sooner. Hang in there! I'm hoping, wishing, and praying that the bleeding/clot throwing/cramping madness stops and that all is well.

  11. Cristy, my heart goes out to you. I just wish this stressful time would stop and you could enjoy an easy pregnancy. Rest this weekend. Take care of yourself. And definitely hire a maid. (I've thought about it, and we only have 3 rooms!)

  12. Oh, Cristy. I'm so ready for this drama to stop for you. I'm so sorry. Good luck with beta #3 tomorrow and your u/s. I'll be thinking of you and hoping the cramping/clots go away for good. I wish you didn't have to deal with this.

  13. I know you are worried. Any of us would be. Just keep doing what you are doing and we'll all send positive feelings to you. I am eagerly waiting for your next beta and u/s. Hopefully they can find your baby and also what might be going on in there.
    Hang tough sweets.

  17. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post. I will try to get the hang of it!
