#MicroblogMondays: Glow

"It's okay to be a glow-stick. Sometimes we need to break before we shine."
~ Author unknown

This weekend was a rollercoaster of emotions. On top of hearing no news about Grey's interview, we said goodbye to close friends who are moving to the East Coast and I made the decision to accept a teaching position here in the fall. Both Grey and I have done lots of reading to know that the silence isn't necessarily a bad thing, as he would have likely gotten a "no" if they weren't interested in him. But after years of having it be the opposite and on top of the other two events, we've both been down.

Sunday afternoon marked a transition. Grey spent most of the weekend resuming his job hunt and making connections with those who have contacts. He now knows how to play this game of networking, which I'm learning more about peripherally. But something has also broken. Maybe it's the fact that we are the last ones' standing from our originally group of friends or that the condo building drama is heating up again, but we're both more determined than ever to push for this transition. Finding the above quote while out for a walk was an added sign for this.

This weekend we cracked. Now it's time to shine.

Not sure what #MicroblogMondays is? Read the inaugural post which explains the idea and how you can participate too.

  1. I love that quote, and I can tell by the fact that Grey is making new connections that the glowing will be bright and enduring.

Abiding with you as you both wait and move forward.

  2. I haven't heard that quote before. Sounds very apt! times of transition are hard, just because of the unknowns and the doubts.

  3. Love the quote. I'm thinking maybe that it needs to apply to me too. That last "no" - when I was so close - pretty much destroyed my confidence.

  4. I need to post that quote on my refrigerator! I'm sorry there's no news about the job. I know how hard that is for both of you. I hope something good is waiting around the next corner.

  5. There's something about the word "glow" that feels hopeful. Gradual, but hopeful. And powerful; not something that will be snuffed out easily. I will hope this for you both ... and I'll keep the quote in my heart, too ... because there have been lots of times I could have used this reminder, too. xo

  6. Holding hope for you and Grey and this transition. I know what it's like to need a new path. I am glad you made a decision about your job and will pray that Grey either hears good news or finds a new opportunity. Much love.

  7. That's a great quote. That is so aggravating to hear nothing...Too be left in a funny limbo. I'm glad that Grey is skilled at the networking and I hope he doesn't have to continue doing it for long. That must have been hard to say goodbye to your last of your group of friends. I hope for new beginnings for you and a really bright shine to come.

  8. I love that quote. And yes, you can't get that glow without the crack. May the snap be brief and the glow long.
