Over the weekend, in the midst of my own meltdown, the Beats discovered a stash of buttons I had been using for various teaching projects. Finding buttons immediately resulted in having to use them. So they created Christmas trees
They also learned to sew with buttons, which became much more of an involved project than I originally anticipated.
Seeing the trees this morning reminded me that despite the current shitstorm there are still wonderful things happening in life. Also that there are those who want to work with me to create this beauty, starting with the simplest of materials and ideas.
So I have to hold onto that.
I love this! It brings back fond memories of playing with my mom's button collection as a child. Hopefully the Beats will both have great memories and turn out to be better at sewing than I am!
ReplyDeleteOh, beautiful. Old buttons are amazing. I have a zillion lying about the house, maybe I should do something creative with them and take a page from the Beats, too. I'm glad it's a good reminder that people can help you create the beauty even in the midst of the shitstorm. Sending hugs, love the trees!
ReplyDeleteThe button trees look pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the button trees! It’s funny because I just found a jar of buttons at the dollar store a couple weeks ago. I let my son dip them in glue and glue them onto a canvas, so not as festive or creative as trees lol My husband suggested teaching him to sew a button, but I declined. Thanks for reaffirming that that would have probably been a frustrating endeavor he (and me!) isn’t quite ready for.
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely post! When we were little my mother had a tin full of buttons. They were there to be used for mending etc, but they were also such fun to play with!
ReplyDeleteI love this Perfect Moment you noticed. So simple and yet so extraordinary.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh! That's adorable. Olivia's first ornament to us was made from buttons. <3 I bet they had a blast!
ReplyDeleteLove the button trees! I used to use buttons in my scrapbooking. Hmmmm, now you've got me wanting to go down to the storage locker & dig out my supplies...!
